A  diphthong occurs when there are two separate vowel sounds within the same syllable. Indeed, the word, diphthong comes from the Greek word  diphthongos,  which means  two sounds or two tones. It is also known as a gliding vowel, because the one sound literally glides into another. The words boy, because, raw, and even out are examples of words that contain diphthongs. They are meant to serve as pronunciation guides, but you really only need to know them if you are looking up one of the words in a dictionary and wonder what these strange markings mean. The sound symbols can give you a simple way to distinguish between the eight diphthongs. A much simpler way to understand the basic pronunciations of the diphthongs, though, is to look at the example words in each of the eight diphthongs. Diphthongs in Sentences If youre teaching students about diphthongs, it might be helpful to provide sentences to illustrate. Doing so in the order the diphthongs  are listed in the previous section in a short, funny story can make the concept clearer for young learners. Some examples provided by  English EFL  include: /eÉ ªÃ‰â„¢/ as in layer, player/aÉ ªÃ‰â„¢/ as in lire, fire/É”É ªÃ‰â„¢/ as in loyal, royal/É™uÉ™/ as in lower, mower/auÉ™/ as in power, hour That extra, or third, symbol that indicates that these are triphthongs, É™, is a  phoneme  called a schwa and is roughly pronounced uh. For some added pronunciation practice, give your students a few sentences containing triphthongs, such as: The player had a great game for his team (eÉ ªÃ‰â„¢), but when he got home his house was on fire (aÉ ªÃ‰â„¢). Since he had been loyal to the royal court (É”É ªÃ‰â„¢), the king gave him a lower price for the new mower (É™uÉ™). Within an hour, he had the machine working at full power. These includes uniqueness of the individual, real choices, attitudes and rights, dignity and respect, partnership and communication, and lastly evaluating the recovery (Health.gov.au., 2017). Out of these six principles, Marys care for Jeremy demonstrates the use of fourth of the six principles, which will be discussed in the subsequent sections. The first principle called Uniqueness of the individual in recovery oriented mental health practice. Fulfilling the role of father made him feel more responsible in his life. It improved his self image which is the sign of personal recovery (Shanks et al., 2013). He was engaged in painting so that he can vent out his feelings. It gave him strength by expressing his emotions and philosophy. Involving in painting gave him new opportunity to deal with stress. The fourth principle called, Dignity and respect in recovery process refers to being courteous with the patient. Being respect and honest in all the interactions. This principle emphasises on being sensitive to all the needs of the patient and respects the same. The caregiver must respect the values, beliefs and culture of the patient (Health.gov.au., 2017). Mary respected Jeremy and maintained his dignity as family person. Both the children engaged in active conversation with Jeremy. His children too gave him sufficient time for supporting him. He thus felt that his values and beliefs are respected. He felt that he was given autonomy. Mary also used the fifth principle of the national recovery framework, which deals with the partnership and communication (Health.gov.au., 2017). It emphasises on caring an individual in a manner that will make sense to them. Mary had partnership with the clinicians and gave Jeremy person centered care. She did not rely solely on the medication. Involving her husband in family interaction made him realise his goals and aspirations. She communicated with him all the relevant information that helped him accept his illness and deal with it. It was found from the video that Jeremy was able to gain confidence to join back his stage and pop-music industry. It is a measure of good recovery orientation process (Williams et al., 2017). He is still seeking meaning to his illness and yet is hopeful about his future. He is more optimistic about life. This is the perfect example of application of National Recovery Framework. Conclusion It can be concluded from the paper that the personal recovery is different from the clinical recovery. Although both have same goals, it is difficult to define recovery, as it is different for each customer. It is necessary for the mental health professionals to understand to two different aspects of recovery and design the care plan accordingly. The lived experiences of one patient may not be same as other mentally ill patient. Patients with lived experiences also encounter stigma, social isolation. Therefore, it is essential to be sensitive to their needs and provide collaborative care for full personal recivery. In conclusion applying this framework will help the mental health care providers to assist the patients in new way so that they can live contributing life. The framework is useful in fostering new service design for the patients living with complex mental illnesses. â€Å"A Worn Path† The setting in the Eudora Welty’s â€Å"A Worn Path† plays a very important role in the make-up of this story. The story is based in the old south several years ago during the cold month of December. The main character is a very old, weak, poor, and tired African American woman. It is unclear in the beginning for what the lady is on such a difficult mission, but the last part of the story makes it clear. She faces many obstacles while on her journey, almost as though even nature is fighting against her, but with her strong determination, she carries on and does not lose spirit. She proves that, though she is old and seems unable, she accomplished her goal with the great mindset and determination she has. The journey Phoenix faces would have been difficult for a person of any age, and it is unimaginable that a woman as old and frail as she would be physically capable of making such a long journey. All of the obstacles she faces in the story, such as the creatures, critters, even plants, serve as symbols of things that can interfere throughout life, but one must continue the struggle and fight for the goals they are trying to accomplish. There are many times that you expect her to give up and go home, but she never does. She keeps pushing until she has reached her goal of making it to town to get the medicine she is after. Phoenix is from the country and must walk a very long distance to make it to the nearest town. Had the story been set somewhere else, there would not have been such a struggle with Phoenix going to the doctor’s office to receive the medicine she needs for her grandson. The main part of the story is when she is fighting so hard to make it through the long, winding journey through the woods. This is where most of her struggle takes place. The reader really gets an opportunity to see how hard Phoenix’s mission is and to what extent she will go to get to the doctor. It is very clear that Phoenix is poor, uneducated, and very unfortunate. She wears old and worn out clothing, must beg for the ten cents that she needs to purchase a paper windmill for her grandson, has old shoes that she does not know how to tie, and uses an old umbrella as a walking cane. Her grandson is not any more fortunate than she. She most likely comes from a poor and uneducated family and has never seemed to have anything nice or unnecessary. This makes it obvious to the reader that every little thing Phoenix has must have such a great value to her. She must appreciate everything in her life. It does not sound as though Phoenix will be able to make the trip many more times, if even one more time. Her body and mind are both exhausted. When Phoenix reaches the doctor’s office, the nurse is speaking to her and she forgets what she has come to town for. Phoenix’s body is very frail and tired. There were times she fell during her walk through the woods, and her mind continued to go downhill quickly. This is a sure sign that she will not be capable of such things in the future. Phoenix is stubborn, yet a strong woman who will not let anyone or anything stand in her way. Many people could read this story and think less of her for begging and her lack of education and money, but many who read it will feel her pain because it is clear she is hurting terribly both physically and mentally with the challenges she faces. She shows, strength, bravery, and love for her grandson.
